The Kannada speaking people and friends of the state of Karnataka, India living in the Midwest Region of the United States of America, assembled in Washington, Illinois on July 7, 2001, and unanimously endorsed the idea for formation of a non-profit cultural organization to preserve and promote Kannada language, culture and heritage.

Mission

To preserve and promote Kannada language, culture and heritage amongst the present and future generations of Kannandigas and friends of Karnataka in the Midwest, and to provide a forum to do so.

Objectives

  • To preserve and promote Kannada language, culture and heritage amongst the present and future generations of Kannadigas and friends of Karnataka living in the Midwest.
  • To organize cultural events and share Kannada culture and heritage with friends of Karnataka.
  • To take part in local events and national cultural events such as Kannada World conference.
  • To cooperate in a manner possible with other organizations that promote India's culture and heritage of which Kannada culture and heritage is an inalienable part.
  • To honor eminent personalities of Karnataka
  • To organize social events.
  • To publish periodic newsletters.
  • To publish annual directory.
  • To develop, update and maintain the organization's Web site.
  • To raise funds for non-profit Charitable organizations
